DSCC Fall Internship

The DSCC is accepting applications for its fall internship program.

The DSCC is an organization whose goal is to elect more Democrats to the Senate. We work towards this goal by providing Democratic Senate candidates with financial and political support throughout the two year election cycle. The ultimate aim of the DSCC is to advance the Democratic message and to guarantee that Democrats are elected to the U.S. Senate.

We are a busy staff and rely on our interns. You will take on many important responsibilities. Your assignments will allow you to become familiar with the basics of fundraising and political work, but you will also be assigned to advanced, long-term projects. This is a great experience that will help you learn more about the political process. You will have the opportunity to meet Democratic Senators and candidates from across the county and have the opportunity to work in a competitive election cycle on a national scale.

Tasks that you will be asked to do (among others):

  • Help manage the front desk/route calls/direct senators to meeting rooms
  • Manage excel spreadsheets and list-building projects
  • Use search engines
  • Write summary reports on various issues for the political department
  • Make deliveries around Capitol Hill
  • Help manage and update the DSCC website
  • Assist staff with response letters
  • Stuff and route mailings
  • Assist staff at various DSCC events (many times evenings and early morning events)
  • Other duties as assigned

We are seeking reliable students who are organized, self-motivated, have an interest in politics, who think ahead on how they can help staff and the DSCC, and most importantly, who are willing to work hard to get the job done. This is a fast-paced office, and your daily tasks will change regularly. We need students who are ready and willing to step up to the challenge and help the DSCC because they believe in the cause. The program does not provide a stipend, but some interns may obtain college credit. Metro passes are provided. 2 Field Rep Openings

Sen. Feinstein’s office is looking to hire two field representatives for the Latino and Asian communities, based in her Los Angeles office. These people would also cover some geography generally on all issues in the Los Agneles region and other markets.

Each ideal candidate should have established experience working in SoCal Latino/Asian communities, demonstrated understanding of current issues and leaders, excellent reputation and communications skills, self-starter/autonomous, and background or understanding of basic policy arena. Person will help shape Senator’s policy efforts, communications and reputation in community.

Payscale DOE, less suited for those used to a corporate salary and likely more palatable for those coming from the nonprofit sector at the mid-to-hgher level/management side.

Like all of Feinstein’s staff, this person must be a high performer that can deliver tangible results for the Senator and constituents, convey the image/standards of the office, and meet the high expectations of the Senator.

The internship will cover all areas of the office, with an emphasis on press. Responsibilities include: drafting press releases, weekly columns, and other writings projects as needed. Also includes research, writing and editing responses to constituent letters and requests, attending hearings and briefings in specific legislative areas, carrying out projects, and performing a variety of administrative tasks including data-entry of constituent letters and front office duties.
